Volunteers may bring their own supplies if preferred. Trash bags and gloves will also be available for free for the event.

Supplies can be picked up at the Iowa Home Consulting shop in Ames before the cleanup weekend during regular business hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Registered groups will receive a Clean-Up Kit delivered by Iowa Home Consulting to help coordinate their cleanup efforts.

Group Volunteers

Community groups are encouraged to participate. Groups will be assigned to parks throughout Ames to help focus volunteer efforts in high-visibility community areas.

Groups may include:

  • businesses and employee teams
  • student organizations
  • service groups
  • churches
  • sports teams
  • community clubs

Group leaders should register their organization and provide an estimated number of volunteers. Iowa Home Consulting will deliver a Clean-Up Kit to registered groups prior to the event.

Individual Volunteers

Individuals and small groups can register to clean within one of Ames’ neighborhoods. The city has been divided into 24 neighborhoods to help organize volunteer efforts across Ames. When registering, volunteers will choose the neighborhood where they plan to clean.

Examples of cleanup locations include:

  • streets and sidewalks
  • bike trails and walking paths
  • drainage areas
  • public green spaces
  • roadside litter areas

If you already have a specific location you would like to clean, simply select the closest neighborhood and include the address during registration.
